Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

The relation of the formation with the older units has not been observed. A major disconformity onto the Cu Brei Fm of early Devonian in the Middle Trung Bo region as indicated on the regional stratigraphic column.

Upper contact

It unconformably underlies the Lower Jurassic Dak Bung Fm in the type region. Regionally, the next younger units is the late Permian Chu Prong Fm volcanics

Regional extent

According to Tran Tinh et al. (1998) the formation is exposed in the areas of the Kon Turn - Buon Ma Thuot Sheet group, and in addition there are small exposures of the formation in the Suoi Cao area (SW Van Hoa Highland), and Hon Gom Isle.
